Spurious Games is an ambitious first novel by a teacher and researcher internationally well known for a style of programme evaluation usually referred to as ‘curriculum criticism’ since it draws on a number of literary devices as well as using cameos and vignettes somewhat in the manner of the new historicism, as well as deploying humour as a means of representing and resolving ambiguities. This is the author’s first attempt to discover if this background is sufficient qualification to enter the world of the novel proper.
